Underground Thermal Energy Storage

CMR's experts has been involved in design of some of the largest BTES (Borehole Thermal Energy Storage) systems in Europe.

Underground Thermal Energy Storage

Norway is among world leading countries utilizing geothermal energy by use of geothermal heat pumps (GHP) .The most efficient GHP applications are UTES providing a balanced combination of heating and cooling. CMR aims to promote UTES applications and to develop and optimize UTES technology.

 CMR are

  • Design and verifying UTES systems by system simulations
  • Providing downhole fiber optic temperature measurements (distributed temperature sensing).
  • Adviser, lecturer and examiner internationally (Taiwan, China, Poland, India) and nationally
  • Reporting status of geothermal energy use in Norway to International Geothermal Association (IGA)  and Europe Geothermal Energy Council (EGEC)

CMR works closely with national and international from industry, research institutes and universities to develop UTES applications and concepts.
